YOGA AND INTUITIVE ART RETREAT

We are delighted to announce this collaborative retreat where we combine the balancing
powers of both yoga and art practices.
Over the course of seven days, we will focus on the potential of each individual chakra.
Set in the charming town of Nerja in the south of Spain, this retreat offers you the opportunity
to find balance, connection and transformation.
Our facilitators will guide you on an inmersive journey through each chakra, studying its
particular energetic and emotional qualities.
You will then be invited to dive into a free fall of colour and texture, letting go of any
judgements and outcomes. Guests will be encouraged to paint freely exploring their creative
self through the language of painting.
Our yoga sessions will help you gain understanding of the inherent qualities of each of your
chakras and intuitive painting offers a creative outlet to express the deep experiences and
connections gained from yoga and meditation.
Our Yoga and Intuitive Art Retreat is design to offer a break from daily demands and obligations,
it is a rare opportunity to stop and make time for yourself; let go of stress- related tensions, reset
bad posture, sleeping or eating habits. Giving ourselves a chance to cultivate healthier habits
means an alcohol-free environment and we encourage minimum screen-related activity.
Whilst there will be ample opportunity to get to know one another, there will also be allocated
collective “mindfulness” periods eg. at the dining table a bell chime will sound an invitation for
silence whilst we enjoy our delicious and nutritious meals.
This retreat is ideal for singles, couples, friends or groups.

WHO ARE WE?

Karlien is a Belgium- Spanish Yoga teacher based in Nerja. With a degree from the
European Shadana Teacher training School, she graduated after four years of intense
training and continues to expand her knowledge by enrolling in different courses and retreats
around the world.
Her interests are inspired by a quest for calmer and more balanced ways to “just be”.
Passionate about travelling and exploring nature, she is a regular hiker, paddle boarder and
climber.
Karlien’s combination of breathing techniques, postures and mindfulness in her classes are
geared towards promoting both physical and emotional harmony. By incorporating these
practices, you will cultivate a sense of calm, clarity and equilibrium. By observing ourselves
in our daily practice, we can build on our knowledge of self. We will learn how to improve our
self-care and the care of others.

Melissa is a English- Spanish fine artist and illustrator living in London. She graduated from
the university of Bellas Artes of Seville with an MA in fine arts and has exhibited extensively
in the Uk and southern of Spain, as well as illustrated several books for British and American
publishers.
Melissa is currently dividing her time between creating new works for a Solo exhibition later
this year and freelancing as a prop and scenic painter for the Film and TV industry.
Her converting interests in art therapy, self development and wellbeing make her the ideal
facilitator to guide you through the journey of letting go of any judgement and blocks,
embracing the freedom of play and exploring the symbolism hiding in the language of colour
and form.

YOGA AND MEDITATION
With Karlien De Vos

The classes will combine Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, Breath work and mindfulness
meditation. We will start the day with an hour of soft morning yoga and gently wake our bodies
following a restful night’s sleep.
Yoga will help you turn your awareness inwards; exploring physical, respiratory, mental and
emotional sensations.
We believe that this physical practice of Yoga offers more than just a way to keep the body
strong, flexible and healthy, it can also create conditions to become more present, conscious and
calm.
The classes will cater to students of any level or experience and will be adapted to individual
circumstances. So whether you are a beginner or more advanced, you will feel comfortable and
able to integrate the benefits of Yoga at your own pace.
Whilst Karlien has trained in many forms and styles of Yoga, she favours the soft but yet still
dynamic blend of Hatha and Vinyasa which is underpinned by the belief that the breath is always
leading the movement.
The daily Yoga class will always include Asanas ( physical exercises), Pranayamas ( breathing
practices) and different forms of meditation and Yoga Nidra ( relaxation or the yoga of sleep).
The aim is for you to feel relaxed and full of energy after each session.

INTUITIVE PAINTING
With Melissa Launay

This is a light hearted, practical and playful workshop centred around reconnecting with your
creative self.
In this course you will explore and learn how to use colour, textures and your intuition in a
playful and non-judgemental approach.

Intuitive painting is about the journey; what you discover by letting go and becoming free,
with no attachment or judgement on any pictorial outcome or result.
The art course is about being guided by the process, rather than trying to maintain
control.This path of discovery will be a liberating and explorative experience.
At the beginning of each day we will set an intention, related to the daily theme set in the
morning Yoga and meditation class. Once in a free flow state we will be able to engage with
our tools and materials to discover the unseen transformational spaces within us.
Colour, texture, layers, collage and spontaneous mark making will transpose the complexity
of our spirit onto paper, leading to new connections and conversations.
This workshop does not require any prior experience with painting or any artistic practice. It
is suitable for anyone who wants to explore and play with new forms of self expression and
creative thinking.

Plant based meals

A certified Raw Living Food & Vegan Chef & Holistic Health Coach, Kathrin has recently
published her first cookbook. She lives in the South of Spain working full-time facilitating
retreats. Additionally she runs her own entrepreneurial project Essentially Raw
(www.essentiallyraw.se) where she offers advice and coaching on plant-based foods and
holistic living. Earlier in her career she also founded the Open World Cafe in Stockholm,
developing its concept and over-seeing the daily management of the creative cuisine for
several years.
Kathrin runs regular workshops in Raw Food and holds a Raw Food Chef Diploma from the
Creative Health Institute in Michigan/USA. Further qualifications include an Aromatherapy
and Massage Diploma from Axelsons Gymnastiska Institut in Stockholm. She also has
trained in Natural Skincare, going on to develop her own line of products alongside holding
creative product making workshops.
Kathrin is multi-lingual and has travelled extensively for work at yoga retreats and festivals in
Sweden, England, Switzerland, Spain and Costa Rica. In Stockholm her part-time role as a
private chef has enabled her to develop her passion for sharing knowledge on holistic and
well-being with others.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Located at the foot of the Almijara and Alhama Mountains and overlooking the Mediterranean
Sea, our retreat venue provides the perfect tranquil setting whilst being centrally located, making
it ideal for self-guided walks and exploration. A complex of three holiday homes in Nerja, we are
a short walk from Burriana beach and the historic centre of Nerja. For the more adventurous, the
surrounding vicinity offers plenty of hikes nearby.

single or shared bedrooms can be catered for. If you are travelling solo, we will be happy to
match you up with a fellow guest!
